<aside> 🖥️ For hosts that do not already have remote work amenities offered at their listings, Nomacasa highly recommends that hosts invest in the below key components of a “remote work war chest”

Table of contents:

  1. Curved monitor: our top recommendation for monitors is the LG Ultrawide 34’’ Curved Monitor. This monitor functions as two screens in one and is extremely high quality and user friendly. The screen can be purchased via Amazon Prime here. As of the date of this post, it is available for $549.99.

  2. USB-C Docking Station: a docking station allows users to connect their computer to multiple devices (multiple screens, keyboard, mouse, etc.) and charge simultaneously via one USB-C connection. This is the most common way modern devices (both Mac and PC) connect to multiple devices at once with one easy to use plug. There are many docking station devices out there, we recommend the Goneo 11-in-1 USB-C docking station, available on Amazon prime here. As of the date of this post, it is available for $69.99.

  1. Keyboard and mouse: if purchasing a docking station, the next logical step to to complete the remote work war chest from a technology standpoint is purchasing a keyboard and mouse that will be wired into the docking station. Preferences on keyboards and mice vary widely, we recommend purchasing wired so battery replacement is not an issue.

    1. Keyboard: we like the Macally ultra-slim USB wired keyboard, available on Amazon Prime here for $39.99 at the time of this post.

    2. Mouse: we recommend keeping it simple, and no need to splurge on a mouse. The wired mouse from Rapoo on Amazon Prime here for $6.79 (at the time of this post) should get the job done.

    3. House Pad: a simple leather mousepad improves the ease of use of a mouse meaningfully. We recommend this leather option from Besezx via Amazon, available for $11.98 as of the time of this post.

  2. Ergonomic Chairs: when it comes to ergonomic chairs, if you have the budget for it, you can’t go wrong with Herman Miller. For a more economical option that is both comfortable and durable, we recommend this chair from Flash Furniture, available for $139.38 at the time of this post.

  3. Standing desk: While there are many expensive standing desks out there, we personally use this standing desk from SHW (55’’ in oak). The desk is durable and available in multiple colors, including oak, black, cherry, maple, walnut, and light cherry, and multiple sizes (40’’, 48’’, and 55’’ - if space allows, we recommend the 55’’ desk). The electric standing desk has a digital display and is able to raise and lower automatically 17’’. Note that the desk takes about an hour to assemble.

  4. Laptop Stand: this simple aluminum laptop stand from KapStrom allows users to adjust the position of their laptop so that it can be at the same heigh as the curved monitor for more seamless use. We use this stand in our office at Nomacasa.
